About My Regular Daily and Weekly Tweets

At this time, these are the regular kinds of tweets that I plan to post on Twitter.

#ThisDayInHistory: A historical factoid related to women’s soccer, that will usually be about either the USWNT, its youth teams, women’s professional soccer in the USA, or NCAA Women’s Soccer. At this time, these tweets will be sent out at around 8:00 am Eastern (USA) time, Monday through Friday and at around noon eastern on the weekend.

I see these tweets as a way of promoting the history of women’s soccer to younger and more casual fans. Dates (e.g. 10-July-1999) are included in the post for clarification, especially for Twitter users outside the USA, and for fact-checking.

When I get more organized, I plan to write quick summaries of the historical event, here, on this site.

#USWNT Birthday: These tweets are a way to spotlight a particular player or coach, especially those that are retired and not household names.  If there’s room, I’ll include a notable fact or statistic. Players mentioned will either be (1) past or current senior USWNT players or (2) current Women’s YNT pool members (U-20 or U-23) if they turn 18 or older. Birth dates (e.g. 19-Feb-1986) are included for clarification, especially for Twitter users outside the USA, and for fact-checking.

At this time, these tweets will be sent out at around 8:00 am Eastern (USA) time, Monday through Friday and at around noon eastern on the weekend. (And, only on days when someone has a birthday, of course.)

It is very possible that I miss an player’s birthday. No slight is intended. And, it’s possible that even after double-checking a birthdate, it may be incorrect. So, if you notice an error, please let me know.

And, as I get more organized (and if there’s a professional league next year), I may add professional players. E.g. #WPS Birthdays.

Week in Review: These are notable developments in the past week, limited to a few major stories. These tweets will be sent out on Sunday afternoon, at around 4pm Eastern (USA).

The Week Ahead: These are things that I think people should know about what is happening during the upcoming week, which will typically be reminders about upcoming matches, or announcements to expect (e.g. camp or match rosters). These tweets will also be sent out on Sunday afternoon, at around 4pm Eastern (USA).

Feedback on these tweets are very much welcomed. Especially on the topic of when the tweets are sent out (e.g., are those times good for you? Would you prefer earlier or later tweets, etc.?).
